Privacy Policy

At Leggit (leggit.ie), we keep things simple. Including your privacy.

We respect your data and only collect what we actually need to make the site work and improve your experience.

1. What we collect

We collect a small amount of data to help improve Leggit:

  • Basic page counts: which pages are visited, how many people, and roughly where from, via Vercel’s cookieless analytics. This is always on, sets no cookies, cannot identify you, and never includes search terms.
  • Detailed usage data, like the races you view or save and the searches you run (via analytics tools, only if you accept cookies). Free-text search terms are included, so please don’t type personal details into search.
  • If you have an account and accept cookies, analytics are linked to a pseudonymous account id — never your email address or name.
  • Your email address — only if you sign up for our newsletter.
  • If you create an account, we store the profile details, saved races and settings you choose to give us.
  • Race results published by timing providers or race organisers. These can include a runner’s name, club, category, bib number, finishing place and finish time. We record where the result came from.
  • If you add a result to your profile, we store a private copy of that claimed result for your account. Claims are self-added and are not identity verification.

2. How we use your data

We use this data to:

  • Send you weekly race updates and useful running content.
  • Make Leggit better and easier to use.
  • Keep an eye on site performance and speed.
  • Help runners find official race results and keep their own race history in one place.

For published race results, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing a useful Irish race-results directory. We use limited result fields that were already published by the timing provider or organiser, link to the source, and provide a correction and removal route.

3. Race results

  • Result information comes from publicly available timing-provider or organiser sources, which are linked on the race page.
  • We exclude junior-only race classes and untimed junior entries. A competitively timed and ranked junior division within an otherwise eligible main race may be included when the timing provider publishes it as part of the official results.
  • Result claims are visible only inside the account that added them. A share image is created only when that account asks for one.
  • You can remove a claimed result from your profile at any time.
  • If a public result is inaccurate or should be removed, use “Correct or remove a result” on the race page or email hello@leggit.ie. We may ask for enough information to identify the result and confirm the request.
  • Correction and removal requests from race organisers and timing providers about their own published results are handled the same way, including removal of a full results set where appropriate.

4. Emails

  • We’ll only send you race-related updates, nothing spammy.
  • You can unsubscribe anytime using the link in any email.

5. Data storage

  • We only keep your data for as long as we need it to run Leggit properly or meet legal requirements.
  • We don’t sell your personal data. We share it with the service providers below only when needed to run Leggit, communicate with you, or measure the site (cookieless page counts always; detailed analytics only when you have accepted analytics cookies).
  • Public result rows are kept while the source remains published and the result is useful for the race archive. A correction or removal request can shorten that period.
  • Claimed result copies are kept until you remove them, delete your account, or the underlying source result is removed.

5a. The Leggit iOS app

The iOS app shows these same pages inside the app, so everything above applies there too. On your phone the app itself keeps only a little of its own: which tab you last used, a small copy of your profile picture for the Profile tab and the address it came from, when the app was first opened, a count of app launches and when it last invited you to rate the app (used only for that invitation). Optional analytics never run in the app; only the cookieless page counts do. Adding a race to your calendar or opening a start line in Maps happens through Apple’s own calendar editor and Maps app, and nothing is written to your calendar until you tap Add. The “Near me” filter (on the site and in the app) asks your device for an approximate position, works out the nearby counties on your device, and sends only those county names with that one request; we do not keep them.

6. Tools we use

We use a few trusted tools to run Leggit smoothly:

  • Google Analytics — helps us understand how people use the site. Only runs if you accept cookies.
  • PostHog — product analytics to see which pages and features are useful. Only runs if you accept cookies.
  • Vercel — hosting, plus cookieless page-count analytics that are always on: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and visitors are not identified.
  • Supabase — provides account services and securely stores account, race and result data.
  • EmailOctopus — manages email subscriptions and newsletters.
  • Resend — sends transactional emails, including result-claim emails when you have chosen to receive them.

These services follow strong privacy and security standards.

7. Your rights

You’re always in control of your data. Under GDPR, you can:

  • Access your data.
  • Ask us to update or delete it.
  • Ask us to restrict how it is used or object to our use of it.
  • Make a complaint to the Irish Data Protection Commission.
  • Withdraw consent at any time — use the “Cookies” link in the footer to switch analytics cookies off. The cookieless page counts do not use cookies and cannot identify you.
